About SUDC

The Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC) Foundation, founded in 2001 as The SUDC Program, is a currently unpredictable and unpreventable tragedy, the sudden and unexpected death of a child over 12 months old--which remains unexplained after all known and possible causes of death have been ruled out--is very rare. It occurs in approximately 1.5 out of every 100,000 toddlers.

Today, The SUDC Foundation provides:
  • Bereavement services to families affected by SUDC throughout the U.S. and in 14 countries abroad.
  • A centralized resource for information, support and advocacy and has created the first and only worldwide database for SUDC.
  • The source of critical funding for SUDC research. This important research would not exist today or continue without the dedication of The SUDC Foundation.
Proceeds from Alex's Run For A Reason will go toward The SUDC Foundation's mission of supporting grieving families and funding crucial medical research so that no new families will have to endure the pain of losing a child.
