Liam's Story

Liam was joy in its purest form. Though his time here was far too short, in just 16 months, he brought more laughter, warmth, and love than we ever could have imagined. With his bright eyes, huge smile, and sweet, curious spirit, he filled our days with laughter, snuggles, and so much love.

Liam was overflowing with happiness and lit up every room. He had a calm, gentle spirit, a bright smile, and a heart full of wonder. Everything was new and magical to him. And oh, how he adored his big brother Evan. The bond between them was something truly special — full of love, giggles, games, and tender moments. Evan loved showing Liam off to anyone who’d listen, showering him with hugs and pats on the head, proud to be his big brother. Liam would light up just watching Evan.

Liam had so many favorite things. He loved music and dance parties, and anything Cocomelon. As soon as he heard the first few notes, he’d smile and shout “Coco!” in the cutest little voice. He loved splashing in the bath, spinning in circles, riding on his little toy car, and being pushed around in the laundry basket. He also loved playing at the library, playing peekaboo, clapping along to the clean-up song, and stacking toys, and dumping them out just so we could pick them back up again.

He was endlessly curious always wanting to see what was just out of reach. He was always on the move, climbing onto stools or his slide, pushing walkers, or scooting around corners or up stairs. From the moment him and Evan woke up (which was usually around 5am) they’d be chasing each other around and laughter filled every corner of the house.

He made even ordinary moments feel extraordinary. Picking him up from daycare was my highlight of every day with his big smile, outstretched arms, and the way he’d melt into a hug. His joy when he would see Evan was already in the car waiting. The way he watched the world, and especially his brother, with a kind of quiet awe.

We were so happy. Just the three of us. Our little family was full of love and laughter and a rhythm that felt just right.

But everything changed in an instant, Liam passed away suddenly during a nap at daycare.

Liam’s passing has since been classified as SUDC (Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood) something we had never heard of until it became our reality. It is heartbreaking how little is known about it, and how few answers there are for the families it touches.

We miss Liam more than words could ever hold. The grief of losing him, of waking up each day without him, is immeasurable, but our love for him hasn’t faded. And we hope that through honoring his life, we can help raise awareness, support research, and ensure that fewer families have to walk this same road.

Liam was a gift — a bright, beautiful soul who changed us forever. His laughter, his love, his light, they are still with us. And they always will be.
