Position Overview

The SUDC Foundation is seeking dedicated and knowledgeable professionals to join our Scientific Grants Review Committee. This committee plays a pivotal role in advancing our scientific research initiatives and policies aimed at understanding and preventing SUDC.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Strategic Guidance: Provide strategic direction for the SUDC Foundation’s scientific research initiatives and policies.
  • Grant Review Oversight: Oversee the process of reviewing scientific grant applications submitted to the Foundation.
  • Policy Recommendation: Recommend policies to the Board of Directors to further the Foundation’s scientific and research mission and vision.
  • Collaboration Development: Develop collaborations with other societies and organizations to promote research in SUDC.
  • Review Group Management: Determine the number and composition of Scientific Review Groups needed for various grant initiatives.
  • Leadership Identification: Identify and appoint chairs and members of the SUDC Foundation’s Grant Review Groups.
  • Process Development: Develop and refine application forms, criteria, and guidelines for various grant opportunities.
  • Oversight and Selection: Oversee the work of different review groups and select grants for funding based on rigorous scientific review.

Qualifications Include:

  • Expertise: Advanced degree (Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent, preferred) in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., epidemiology, genetics, neurology, cardiology, pathology, pediatrics).
  • Experience: Knowledge of current best practices, methodologies, and trends in SUID/SUDC research, grant writing, and/or grant reviewing.
  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of SUDC or related fields with a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess research proposals and grant applications objectively
  • Collaboration: Strong ability to work collaboratively with other scientists, researchers, and organizations.
  • Commitment: Dedication to the mission of the SUDC Foundation and a commitment to advancing research in the field.
