Our beautiful son, Jameson Smith Freeman, unexpectedly passed in his sleep on February 4, 2024. He was exactly seventeen months old.
Jameson was born in Evansville, IN on September 4, 2022. From the moment he was born he gave the best cuddles, and loved sleeping on his mama and daddy. He was so fun, and knew exactly what he wanted at any given time. Breakfast was his favorite meal of the day, he was always spending time playing in his Bluey house, and trying to keep up with his big brother, Caiden.
Jameson loved going to pick up his brother from school every afternoon, he was always concerned with what his cats, Oreo and Mojito, were doing, and Bluey played in the background all day long. He had just started to climb on everything, but he hadn’t quite figured out yet how to get down.
Jameson would sneak into his brother’s room every single day when he thought he could get away with it, and at night he loved watching Guy Fieri on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives before going to bed. But, most of all, he loved just being at home and he loved his people.
Jameson’s personality had just started to show. He had been walking since his first birthday, but his talking and comprehension grew every day. He knew what he wanted and he never gave up until we knew what he was asking for. Most of the time it was a snack. Ritz bits (with cheese NOT peanut butter), chocolate teddy grahams, animal crackers, and veggie straws were always in our house. We will always miss those little bags thrown all over the house that we had to clean up every night.
We loved that we got to see Jameson play with and love on his big brother, we just wish that he could have met his baby sister, Emory. She was born about five weeks after we lost him, and we just know he would have loved her so much.
He was so full of light and so full of life, and for that to be taken away is incredibly unfair. We will never understand why this happened, but we will fight for continued research so other families don’t have to feel this heartbreak. #JamesonsJourney was short, but we will make sure to always tell everyone about him.
Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC) is a category of death in children between the ages of 1 and 18 that remains unexplained after a thorough investigation, including an autopsy. Most often, a seemingly healthy child goes to sleep and never wakes up. At this time, we do not know what causes SUDC, how to predict it or how to prevent it. This fundraiser supports the SUDC Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3). The SUDC Foundation is the only organization worldwide whose purpose is to promote awareness, advocate for research and support those affected by SUDC. It provides all services at no cost to the people it serves.
